Overview: The
Allatoona Jr. Basketball Program is a developmental program for 6th,
7th and 8th grade young men who want to play competitive
basketball against other school teams in Cobb, Cherokee and N.
Fulton counties. There are three teams, 6th, 7th,
and 8th grade. The purpose of the program is to work on fundamentals
and develop players for the high school program.
Requirements & Tryouts: You must live in the Allatoona school
district to play on the Jr. Buc team. There will be several try outs in
September and I ask you to please check the Junior Bucs website frequently for
updates.
Practices:
Practices are held at Allatoona
High School. Teams typically practice twice per week. Practices are typically 1 ½-2 hours
long.
Games: The
Allatoona Jr. Buc program participates in the Cobb-Cherokee Junior Basketball
Conference (www.ccjbc.com). The conference is made up of other Cobb County
and Cherokee High
School feeder program teams along with some N.
Fulton teams.
Conference games begin in November with pre-season
tournaments in October or November and possible holiday tournaments during
Thanksgiving and Christmas break. The regular schedule consists of 2 games weekly,
primarily on weekends, but some weeknights.
Conference play goes through January and finishes with a CCJBC
tournament in February. Home games are
played at Allatoona
High School and away
games are played at opposing teams high schools.
Volunteer Duties: The assistance of parents is
required to ensure the success of the program. Concession duty along with the
scorebook and clock are volunteer duties.
Each team has a team manager to handle administrative responsibilities
through a team representative or team mom.
